BRAZIL
We were able to witness to many family members, friends,
pass out tracts, as well as preach in a church and in the open-air.
We appreciate everyone's prayers on our behalf.
- One night Bro. John was asked to share a word with a congregation
while Sis. Ellen interpreted. Their eyes were fixed on us as they heard
every word and shouted "Hallelujah" and "Glory to God".
- The Pentecostal Churches are very revived in Brazil. We were able to
fellowship and meet many brethren. Some churches meet every night, some
having 24 hour a day, 7 days a week prayer never closing their doors.
- We witnessed the true Spirit of Revival with our own eyes. The gifts
of the Spirit and miracles of healing bring the multitudes to these
Pentecostal churches.
- Our favorite experience was preaching outdoors in the heart of São
Paulo, in a square called "Praça da Sé." This square sits right in front
of the main Roman Catholic Church in this massive town of 17 million
people.
- Many came requesting prayers. Here, they made two long lines in
front of us and had various requests for divine healing, jobs, their
relationship with God, direction in life, etc. They were so hungry for
truth.
- Some were so eager to be prayed for that they would pat their head
with their hand, not wanting to take the time to go through the process
of translating the language.
- As usual, the preaching of the Word of God stirred up the interest
of the people in spiritual things. This opened up doors for many to
witness and to be witnessed to.
- The majority, not like the college students of the United States
(who heckle, call names, mock, etc.), were quiet, listening, respectful,
and very polite. For over an hour we preached and taught on "True
Repentance vs. False Repentance". Giving illustrations and Scriptures,
the crowd never got smaller.
- This was the first time we preached together in Portuguese but it
worked out great. Behind us are several Pentecostal preachers who
shouted "Glory to God" and "Hallelujahs" the whole time.
- Going down to listen to the other preacher preach, we were greeted
with hugs and smiles, in genuine Christian love. A group of Pentecostal
preachers go to this park regularly. Next, they asked us to preach to
their crowd. Turning the crowd back to the main evangelist, he gave them
an altar call for salvation. Out there in the open, different
individuals walked forward to stand in the middle of the crowd of people
to be saved. With hands high over their heads, fervent prayers were
offered up to God. I counted over 25 people who stepped out of the crowd
and stood down at the front as we prayed over them to be saved.
